FOSTORIA COIN CLUB

           

            The Fostoria Coin Club met at Key Bank, W. Tiffin St. at 7:30 p.m., on Monday July 19, 2010.  The meeting was called to order by Vice President Chuck Brandeberry, in the absence of the president.  V. Pres. Brandeberry welcomed the 31 members present.  Everyone was happy to have Cecil Vaughn feeling well enough to attend the meeting.  The treasure and secretary reports were read and approved.

            Sgt. Of Arms Bruce Hanny escorted junior member Austin Caster, Green Springs, and senior member Al Collier, Clyde, out of the room while members voted on their membership.  They were voted in unanimously.

            Old Business: Gary Moran reminded the members that he had raffle tickets for sale for the CONA Coin Show in Dublin Sept 3,4,& 5.

            New Business:  Garry Phelps asked what plans the club has in spending some of the money that we have in the treasury.  Roy Zinn said there are many good books about numismatics that we could purchase and donate to near by libraries.  Gary Moran suggested we subscribe to a numismatic newspaper  for libraries.  V. Pres. Brandeberry felt we should table making a decision until we could all think about it more and discuss it at another meeting.

            Announcement was made by Phil Cole of auctions he has coming up in Findlay Aug. 6, Aug. 20, and Sept. 3.  Chuck Brandeberry told of the club receiving raffle tickets for the OSNA coin show that will be held in Independence, OH Sept 24 & 25.

            Phil Warrington conducted a 28 lot auction.  The junior door prize, a 1975 proof set was won by Austin Caster and the senior door prize, a 1978 proof set, was won by Betty Houser.  The meeting was adjourned by Gary Moran, Garry Phelps and Harry Colvin.  The next meeting will be Aug. 16.
